About Paula

Paula (she/her) is a highly qualified clinical psychologist in Newcastle, Mayfield, NSW. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the Australian National University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Neuroscience from Utrecht University in the Netherlands.


With extensive experience in supporting individuals facing a range of mental health challenges—including anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic health conditions like chronic pain—Paula brings a wealth of knowledge and empathy to her practice. She is deeply passionate about helping people transform their relationships with themselves and others.


Paula believes in a collaborative approach to therapy. She prioritises your values and preferences, combining them with the latest research and her clinical expertise to set therapeutic goals and choose the most effective treatment modalities. Her therapeutic approach is trauma-, emotion-, and attachment-informed, ensuring that every session is driven by compassion and aimed at effectiveness. Paula's practice is LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergence affirming.


Paula is always learning more about best ways to support you. Her current clinical approach is informed by:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR)
  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Paula will be happy to meet you and see how she could support you, if you are an adult (18yo+):

  • experiencing anxiety, depression, mood swings;
  • going through life transitions and change, such as divorce, relationship break-downs, grief, career changes;
  • experiencing difficulties with understanding and managing your emotions;
  • experiencing chronic pain (persistent pain);
  • neurodivergent and might have recently received diagnoses of ADHD and/or autism;
  • experiencing work related burnout;
  • struggling with perfectionism, feeling like you are never good enough no matter how hard you try;
  • wanting to understand more about patterns in your relationships that may be repeating and not serving you;
  • managing the aftermath of having experienced psychological trauma.
